Treatment

The first visit will take from an hour to an hour and a half of your time. Your chiropractor will first take a full case history, including the medical background as well as any presenting symptoms. This will enable him to come to an accurate diagnosis, as well as to ascertain whether there are any underlying problems that may need referral to a GP or specialist. At this point, the chiropractor will answer any questions you may have regarding treatment.

Assuming that both you and the practitioner are happy to continue, the chiropractor will carry out an examination of the body before proceeding with treatment. Because we are working with the body, re-educating it into adopting new positions and alignments, healing usually takes place as part of a process, rather than as a one-off event. At least three weekly sessions, each lasting half and hour to 45 minutes, are usually required before a reassessment is carried out.

The video below shows the McTimoney chiropractic method in practice, and some explanation of how it works and the theory behind it.
